8.1 - Revolutionary War Memorial / Veterans Memorial Walkway Expansion – In Progress

The Revolutionary War Veterans Plaza and Park represents a significant extension of the Bamberg County Veterans Trail. This proposed addition will include plaques listing and honoring every recorded individual from the region who served, with particular recognition for the often-overlooked contributions of women and free and enslaved men of color, reflecting Bamberg County’s commitment to inclusive historic preservation. Additional text will highlight the wartime activities of communities within the historic Orangeburgh District and its neighboring areas, creating narrative connections among historic sites across the region.
